An Ohio original, David Pond passed away on November 5th, 2001 at the age of 61. Born May 23, 1940, Pond was known by his friends for his zest for life and good humor. Pond's wit and social commentary often appeared in his art. The self-taught Pond prefered the seclusion his rural country life-style offered to that of the city dweller he once chose. Painter, sculptor, builder, and avid reader, Pond produced artworks inspired from his vivid imagination and from his life experiences. The artist's wooden carved sculptures possess an intuitive sophistication and simplicity. Pond's paintings are packed full of curious narrative and personal expression.
